Though I have made my blog Christmassy, I am still a little like the Grinch. Maybe it takes me a while to completely get into the festivities. With no kids in the house, there is no urge to decorate. Anyway, I am listening to as much Christmas music as I can, to help me get into the mood. Hopefully will be done next week
Seasons greetings to you all.

Last Day
I am going back home and sad at leaving my son and family.
I went for a last walk yesterday. It was beautifully sunny but cold! It was a glorious Fall day.
In the evening I got to witness an American Halloween, with all the kids in the neighbourhood out trick or treating in spite of the cold. Of course, for many their costumes were not visible because of the jackets they were wearing. It was an interesting experience. What a lot of candy!!!!
I hope my son and family will visit next year and then maybe we can pay them a visit the year after. Till then good bye Illinois.

Good Intentions
I had intended to post at least a couple more blog posts, but sorry to say obviously the commitment was not deep enough.
I have been enjoying Fall in the US. The colours are mind blowing. I have been posting pictures on Instagram of as much of the beauty around me that I saw--beautiful sunsets, trees clothed in colours from a brilliant sunshiny yellow, through saffron, deep pinks, bright oranges, dusky maroon and flaming reds. I could not believe the shades of pink. I have only seen Fall pictures in shades of red and orange. The colours were as wonderful as those of spring flowers. But now the trees have really been shedding their leaves and by the time we leave next week, the trees would probably be naked and shivering, waiting for their winter coats.

Oktober in the US
Onedia asked me to get back to blogging. As I was visiting the US after a gap of two years, i thought that would provide some inspiration to blog again. But it was not till yesterday, a beautiful Fall day here in Illinois, that I felt like blogging.
I went for a morning walk by the lake near here and it was such a beautiful day it seemed unbelievable. This was the first time I can recall seeing a really cloudless sky--'Not a cloud in the sky, and the sun in my eye, and I won't be surprised if it's a dream'.Beautiful! Besides, it was my 66th birthday, and as it was a Sunday, we went apple picking. My son drove out to a place in Wisconsin and it was like a festival, packed with people, live music, food, apple orchards and a pumpkin patch. The whole experience was fun. But Mother Nature added the extra zing. It was a beautiful day.
I have been enjoying Fall, watching the leaves, on some of the trees, turn colour in the two weeks we have been here. But I am sorry not to see some of the wild life I saw in the summers that I was here.
There are still a large number of birds though an I have seen two different types of woodpeckers apart from the robins and sparrows. I hope I will find more to blog about in the coming days.

Cinders (Cindy) and Ginger
I now have two dogs, 2 streeties/pariahs that i picked up from this incredible woman, who is certainly in the lowest income level, living in a small house on government land, with just a tiny open space in front of her house, and she looks after strays, puppies that people bring her, injured dogs etc. Luckily there is a vet who goes in once a month to take a look at her doggie residents and give them their vaccinations. So I picked up two females, who are now a year old. They are both small, which is fine by me.
