I've been almost completely off blog world for almost 2 months.  But I'm really sad.  My Dobe died today.  She was 12.  She was ailing for a while and then I had to be out of town for 2 weeks.  My husband was here though, except for a couple of days.  I felt that she was a bit relieved when I came back  She had become skin and bones because she was refusing food and was so weak.  But last night, (around 24 hrs ago), she got up and went outside as it was a clear night.  She loved being out in the dark.  I stood outside with her and she drank a great deal of water.  Then she kind of staggered upto me and leant against me as she sometimes did and wanted me to pet her--her good bye I guess.  I'll really miss her.

I am so sorry. How sweet of her to wait for you, though. I'm glad you came back in time.

We have an appt. early tomorrow for one of ours, who I suspect will not come home with us. He's just sort of fading.

Dogs love so unconditionally and fully. They're amazing creatures.

I'm glad you came home in time but I'm sorry that she's gone. It's so hard to get over that loss. My thoughts are with you.

Oh dear they do know how to leave a wide hole in our hearts don't they. I'm glad the two of you had some time together at the end*!*

I am so sorry to read about your beautiful dog. I am living daily with knowing how much older my dog is not only looking but acting. They are such good company, so protective and loyal to us. A wonderful friend in his 90`s asked me if I thought God had a special place for these loyal pets and I told him there must be. He said it best when he said "losing his beloved dog left an empty hole in his heart". So true.
Hugs, Dot
