'It's a lovely day'

Posted by Picasa

"It's a lovely day today
And whatever we've got to do
We've got a lovely day to do it in, that's true
................
I'll say it's a lovely day for saying
It's a lovely day. "

It's a beautiful 'winter' morning! The air is crisp and pleasantly cool and the skies so clear. There's a gently breeze swaying the trees gently. Unlike in more Northern climes, our 'winters' are never dark. So the day is bright.
I love the sunshine during our winter. It is as bright as ever, but when the sun is in the south, he shines less harshly. There is a clarity about the light, which makes me linger outside. The light slants thought the trees, clothing the leaves in a green not seen in the strong summer sunlight.
What a lovely morning and how glad I am that I have a holiday to enjoy it.

Post more pictures, please. In this rotten economy, reading your blog is the closest thing to international traveling I'll be doing.

  5. Ah yes Sue, I love days like that too. The weather has been very cold here; fog, ice and snow. -8 the other morning as I went out for the lovely school run! I've even had to put my thermals on!

Btw I love the way you keep changing all the background on your blog; they are all so lovely. I will have to see if I can find some clowns or something for my site! Pierce looks just great in your sidebar...although the pink hearts kind of lower the tone of your lovely background settings!

  6. Yes, we've been having rather strange weather this year. It is usually very dry at this time of the year. But oddly, it has been very breezy the last day or 2, but with no rain. Strong breeze at this time is very unusual. So we have hot days and cool pleasant evenings and nights.
Thanks JT about the backgrounds. They're from photos taken from around our town by near and dear.

  7. Oh my goodness! what's the name of the tree in your picture? We have a similar (or perhaps the same one) in El Salvador :)

Beautiful post as usual :)I would love to enjoy that winter sunshine...here it is very cloudy and dark.

  9. La D we call it a gulmohr here--meaning red coin. I saw it on Wiki--here's the link-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulmohur and they say it's called Royal Poinciana elsewhere.

  10. Oh, how I am looking forward to a day with the sun shining brightly and no snow.Been very cold here the past week and expecting more snow again tomorrow.
Thanks for reminding me that we only need to get through a couple more months before the snow will start melting and the sun will be shining brightly again.
    Hugs, Dot
