my first picture

This is the first pic I'm putting up that i took. As you can see I'm only just getting the hang of it. It's a terrible picture. But then I guess that's the way to learn :)
That is the jackfruit tree outside my window. It's jackfruit time. So last week huge quantities of chips from raw jackfruit were made--unfortunately all finished already!! Also we made ripe jackfruit preserve--chakka velaychatha--with jaggery and coconut and then of course there was jackfruit seeds and raw mango curry and seeds sauteed. As you can see, definitely jackfruit season!
I put a link to the wikipedia page so that you can see a better picture of a jackfruit tree.

  1. Please all of you, esbee, icancarryallthebags and anyone else who has used a camera phone help!! After I put up this picture, I realised I can increase the resolution on the phone. Anything else i should do to cut down the red tones? My phone is a Motorazr V3.

  2. Wow. Never heard of this tree. Cool. I learned something.

Is there a similarity to the flavor of the jackfruit to another fruit so I can get an idea of what it tastes like?

  3. I don't know what it would be like. It's taste is truly very tropical, the nearest would be probably like a mix of mango & pineapple--when ripe. But we use raw too a lot, when it's more potatoey.

  6. It's all experiment. Some phones have flashes, but mine doesn't. Mine is SUPERB in natural light, not as great indoors unless there is tons of light.

Just experiment. I take lots of pics that look fine on the wee screen, but when I see them on my laptop, I delete them quick-quick.

  7. WOW, Thanks for the link. Had heard of a mulberry tree, but not a jackfruit tree. That fruit sure gets large. Article said it was the largest tree fruit. Never heard of any tree that grows fruit everywhere like this one- even on the bark and the roots. Must be a lot of weight for one tree to handle. Bet your tree looked exciting with all the huge jackfruit growing and hanging all over it.
Thanks for the education. Interesting article.

  9. Hmmm... like Esbee said, it's all trial and error. My husband has a superduper camera phone that takes great pictures everywhere... mine is pretty good too... but I've never had to do much tweaking. I think that this photo is good. I've seen some pretty terrible camera phone pictures. What kind is it?

  10. One more thing, I think I've heard my husband say that Nokkia phones take the best pictures.
